Cartier watches: France's fine watchmaker with a flair for style
If you're looking for a watch with cutting edge style, then Cartier might be the answer for you. Hailing from France (where else?) Cartier has excelled in stylish watch design for years.
It began in the haute couture capital of the world, Paris, in 1847, when Louis-Francois Cartier took over the jewelry workshop of his teacher at age 29. In 1872 he made his son, Alfred, a partner. In turn, Alfred then made his son, Louis, a partner and changed the company name to Alfred Cartier & Fils.
At the dawn on the twentieth century their path to high fashion began, the guirlande style was improved thanks to the success of platinum. A few years later the company produced art deco watches using abstract, geometrical forms, and at this point the first Tonneau wristwatch was created.
In just a few years, Cartier had a shop in London and New York as well, and the company was becoming widely renowned for its innovative and tres stylish designs.
Cartier is not only known for creating beautiful watches, but also for artfully crafted tiaras, jewelry boxes, cigarette cases, and clocks. They have proven over the years that Cartier always means style.
