A man by the name of Achilles Ditesheim hired six employees at the ripe age of 19 to started his own watch company in La Chaux de Fonds, Switzerland in 1881.

The name of his company was Movado, meaning "always in motion," and soon after the founding, the company became known for its technological design innovation.
